Regression, Rot & Ruin

Regression, Rot & Ruin
Rowan Finlayson-Palmer

You’ve grown so distant from everyone,
But you’re still right there.
You stay for a second, then you’re gone.
All I get is a vacant stare.
Someone is home,
But they’ve not opened the door in a while.
Your mind fades. You must be alone.
I’d do anything to just see you smile.

What’s lost is never found,
And you seem to have misplaced your time.
I wish you could be rewound,
So you could remember your prime.
So many stories you had to tell,
Lost. Left behind as your mind deteriorates.
I’d do anything to see you well.
Lonely. Afraid. Do you even know today’s date?

The time you’ve lost will never be found.
Infinite stories all caged in your skull,
Forgotten. The days are all mixed,
Blending into one. One day,
You will be lost.
Thoughts that follow you to the ground.
