Solihull Junior Group for 2024-25

New venue for 2024!

This group is for at young people in school years 3 – 6 (aged 8 – 11). 
Led by writer Abda Khan with an assistant writer, the group will meet at Dickens Heath Library from 10.30am – 12.30pm on the following Saturdays:
  • 7th September 2024
  • 12th October 2024*** NB this is a change to the original schedule
  • 9th November 2024
  • 7th December 2024
  • 4th January 2025
  • 1st February 2025
  • 1st March 2025
  • 5th April 2025
  • (no May session)
  • 7th June 2025
  • 5th July 2025

The sessions cost £10 for a taster session, or £9 per session when booked for all remaining sessions. You can choose to pay in one lump sum or pay by monthly recurring card payments. 

Please note, we encourage young people to join one group for the year, as getting to know their fellow group members is an important part of developing as a writer. Advance booking is essential.

We are pleased to be able to offer free places to those who receive free school meals or pupil premium funding at school. You can see our bursary policy here. Please contact us with any queries.

The young people will need to bring

  • a notebook or some paper,
  • a pen or pencil to write with,
  • a snack and a drink, if they want one.

If you’d like to submit a piece of your writing for possible inclusion in the magazine, please see the Get Involved page to see more details. This magazine is published online three times a year: summer (June/July), winter (October-December) and spring (February-April) terms.

Our Spark Young Writers groups for September 2024-June 2025 are now available to book. 

Submissions for the 29th edition of the Spark Young Writer Magazine are also being accepted. The deadline is 29th November 2024
